AFI (abbreviation for A Fire Inside) was formed in 1991 when Davey Havok (lead vocals), Markus Stopholese (lead guitar), Vick (bass), and Adam Carson (drums) were attending high school in California. Vick was later replaced by Geoff Kresge before they all split up to go to college. During a holiday break, the band got together again to do a small reunion show but the crowd liked it so much that they all decided to quit school and follow music as a career. They then worked their way up to where they are now. With already twelve albums out, AFI has become arguably the best pop/punk band in America in decades.
